Overview

The 777-9 is the larger of the two 777X models. It stretches the 777 to about 77 m and adds a new carbon-fibre wing so long that its tips fold upward on the ground to fit standard airport gates. Its GE9X engines are the largest and most powerful jet engines ever fitted to an airliner.

The programme has suffered long delays; certification flight testing is continuing and first deliveries are now expected around 2027. Figures are manufacturer targets.
