Overview
The BelugaXL is a heavily modified A330-200 freighter with a giant bulging upper fuselage, used to carry complete aircraft wings and fuselage sections between Airbus factories in France, Germany, Spain and the UK. It can hold two A350 wings at once, one more than the older Beluga ST.
Six were built and entered service from 2020. Its white-whale paint scheme with eyes and a smile was chosen by Airbus employees in a vote.
