Overview
The ATR 42 is a 40–50-seat high-wing turboprop and the first aircraft built by the Franco-Italian ATR partnership; the original version flew in 1984. The current ATR 42-600 adds modern glass-cockpit avionics, more efficient PW127M engines and a refreshed cabin.
It is designed for short regional routes and small airports, and is valued in islands, mountains and remote regions where bigger aircraft cannot operate economically. First-flight and service-entry years refer to the ATR 42 family.
