Overview
The Caravan is a rugged single-turboprop utility aircraft that carries passengers, cargo or parachutists from short and rough strips. More than 3,000 have been built; figures here are for the stretched 208B Grand Caravan EX.
Fitted with amphibious floats, it can take off from water as well as runways. In Sri Lanka, Cinnamon Air flies float-equipped Caravans from Colombo to lakes and lagoons around the island, while FedEx uses hundreds as cargo feeders.
